Stampcation

Heading to Stampcation in Orlando today.  This is my 3-D submission for Sunday.  I saw the orginal concept at www.thestampingstudio.blogspot.com.  I thought Madeline's creation was adorable.  And I just happened to have a package or two of the LED Tea Lights (LOL).  I decided to update the design with gold heat embossing, the new Creative Elements Stamp Set from the current Idea Book & Catalog, Cherry Cobbler ink and the beautiful new Cherry Cobbler quilted ribbon from the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  I'm hoping that my project holds up to all the awesome swaps that I am sure will be there!

I just can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this weekend of stamping, friends, meeting new friends and sharing swaps.  What an awesome way to spend a few days!

We have a technique class tonight at palcrafts, and one of our regular crafters has a birthday tomorrow.  So, to celebrate, in addition to chocolate, I'm presenting her with some flowers.  And one of the best things about these – they "live" forever.  I got the directions for these from the On-line extras available to Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  Another one of those perks associated with being a part of the Stampin' Up! family.

The colors are the 2011-2013 In Colors – Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder and Island Indigo.  Aren't those names great!  The Big Shot dies used were: Blossom Party, Fun Flowers and Flower folds.  The Textured Impressions Embossing Folder was Vintage Wallpaper.  Punches used included Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer, Fancy Flower, Heart to Heart, and Full Heart.

I made the tag by punching the Decorative Label on a folder piece of Calypso Coral, and stamping a sentiment from Word Play on Whisper White Card Stock.  And of course, I had to add a little bling – Basic Rhinestone Jewel.

If you're interested in learning and/or teaching fellow crafters how to make fun projects and gifts like these flowers, contact me at palcrafts@att.net or 321-482-0136.

Un-Conventional – Day 2

Day 2 was at my home.  My shoebox swap was based on the Mini Milk Carton Box tutorial at http://creativityinprogress.com/blog/2011/01/mini-milk-carton-boxes Funny how we all started from the same starting point and made three different boxes.  We all left off the lid and added an handle – perfect for that special Halloween treat!  We used the Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp Set and the Frightful Sight DSP – both new items in the 2011-2011 Idea Book & Catalog.

Another perfect day – friends, food and stampin'!  Can't wait for tomorrow.

Unconventional Convention

A couple fellow demonstrators and I had planned to go to convention this year.  The three of us had been talking and planning ever since last year's convention.  Unfortunately, oil prices didn't cooperate and we just weren't able to justify the staggering increase in airfare.  Our disappointment hasn't deterred us!  We're having our own little "Unconventional Convention".  Our plan is kind of like a progressive dinner – we're going to a different person's home each day.  The host is providing the shoebox swap for that day and we're going to stamp, eat, talk, eat and stamp!  Can't plan a much more perfect day!

Knowing that each year at the Conventional Convention we get a bag, I went searching on-line for a gift bag that was done at a shoebox swap at convention two years ago.  I didn't find it, but I found something else – Lynn Pratt's Swap Holder Garden Bag Project! You can see her bag and purchase her tutorial at www.stampndesign.blogspot.com  I made one for each of the Unconventioanl gals, using the new Flirtatious Specialty DSP and the fabric to monogram their bags.  I put in some new and retired items that I thought would be fun to use as business tools – book-to-look gifts, recruiting gifts, etc.  I can't wait to share them tomorrow!  I hope they like them as much as I enjoyed making them.  Thank you Lynn for such an awesome project and terrific directions!

Strength & Hope

This is my third 3-d project for this month's Stampers 10.  One of my very first posts to this site was using this bird from the Movers & Shapers Die for a friends 50th wedding anniversary card.  I thought the over lapping of the birds was appropriate for the Strength & Hope Stamp Set.

The pattern for the card is on the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator site.  I believe it's pattern #3 under cards.

Anyway, I like how when the card opens, there's a bird at the top and the bottom.

If you are interested in making this project and the bag and box posted prior to this, let me know.  You can either join us at Stampers 10 next Wednesday, the 25th, or you can complete the projects. during an open table session.
